A New Pub Pool Championship is set to take over the pubs in Offaly this coming autumn.

This league will be fully integrated into the team selection process for the Offaly Pool team as an added incentive to the participating players.

In a way this is a breakaway tournament from the Midland Pub Pool League, however, the winning teams (A, B & C Divisions) from this county will then contest the Midland League Finals which will include winners from other midland counties such as Westmeath, Laois, Leitrim etc

From September, teams across the county will compete in one of eight different regions in a bid to qualify for the County Finals. After the group stage of each region, all teams will be entered into an A, B or C Division depending on how well they finish.

Each division is then played through to the final with the regional winners going through to the County Finals where eight teams will compete for the Championship Title over one weekend in the Newbury Hotel, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath

Here is a look at the regions, you will see a number of duplicates, the entry level will determine what region a particular area goes in too. 1 Clara, Ballycumber, Pullagh, Rahan; 2 Shannonbridge, Doon, Ferbane, Cloghan, Belmont; 3 Rhode, Edenderry, Clonbullogue; 4 Tullamore, Mucklagh; 5 Portarlington, Cloneygowan, Bracknagh, Geashill; 6 Birr, Kilcormac, Kinnitty, Cadamstown; 7 Ballinagar, Daingean, Geashill, Killeigh; 8 Moneygall, Coolderry, Shinrone

Players on the teams who have a high win percentage will be invited to trials for the County teams. Near the end of the pub championship, there will be an individual event for the players on the teams only.

A team consists of five players plus up to three subs can be used for the duration of the competition. Matches will be played every Tuesday evening from 8:30pm.

The format for each region may differ slightly due to the varying entry level. Entry Fee is €130 (€40 Organiser Fee, €10 Registration*, €80 Prize Fund), *the registration is paid once, so if you have a second team, it will cost €120. The registration goes to the Westmeath Pool Association.

The league will commence in September, while entrants must be in and paid by August.
