All this week’s news on a busy week for athletes for Tullamore Harriers athletes.
Leinster Senior & Masters Track and Field
Tullamore Harriers Stadium played host to the Leinster U23, Senior & Masters track and field championships on the June Bank Holiday weekend, and there were a number of success stories for the home team with Richie Faulkner setting a new record for the 040 steeple chase where he took gold in 11.51.54. Richie also ran the 1500m where he was 5th O40 in 4.54.25. Adrian Curley also took gold in the O40 5000m in a 15.57. Johnny Feery was second O55 in that race. Jim Langan scored two gold medals in the 070 category for the 1500m in a time of 7.04.62 and the 3000m where he ran 13.22.24. Ray Delaney took the silver medal in the O35 200m in a time of 25.78 and also won a bronze medal in the 100m where he clocked 12.52.
In the field events, Jim Dolan was 1st in the 56lb weight throwing 6.30m and was first in the O55 shot putt competition with a throw of 9.01m. In the Master Womens category, Carol Gethings was 6th O45 in the 100m in 15.51 and 6th in the 200m in 32.12, while Mary Walsh was 1st in O65 200m which she ran in 40.86.
In the Senior Women’s 400m Hurdles, Anne Marie Molloy set a new pb to take gold in 76.67. Sean Donegan won the U23 400m in 51.65. Joseph Dolan was 3rd in the Senior Men’s Long Jump with a best jump of 6.01 and was 4th in the 100m in a time of 11.81. Also running in the Senior Men’s competition was Daragh McNamara who was 5th in the 200m in a time of 23.20. Well done to all.
Last Sunday’s Pullough 5k in aid of St Mary’s National School attracted a field of over 200 runners who took advantage of the fast, flat course to run some excellent times. The race was won by Daingean AC’s Brendan Donagher in 17.53 with Tullamore’s Dave Brophy second in 18.01 and Darren Butler third in 18.12. Shauna Moran was the first lady home in 20.12 with second and third places going to Harriers’ Miriam Minnock (22.08) and Tara McKinney (22.21).

Monivea Half Marathon
Dave Murray put in a fine run to take second place at the Monivea Half Marathon last Saturday in a super time of 1.19.09. Also in action from Harriers was Lavinia Leahy who was 63rd overall in 1.51.13.
Tullamore Harriers Forest 5k
This year’s Forest 5K race through the grounds of Charleville Estate will take place on Friday 25th July at 7pm.
Tullamore Half Marathon 2014
Online entry is now open for this year’s Tullamore Half Marathon which takes place on Saturday 30th August at 12 noon. Visit www.precisiontiming.net to enter. A relay option for teams of two running 10.5k each is also available.
Please note that use of the club’s facilities, including the tarmac track, is restricted to members of the club.
