Recent Competition Results

Turkey Competition for week ended Friday 29th November 2013

Turkey competitions continue at Tullamore Golf Club and the winners of the Turkeys for week No. 8 which ended Friday 29th November were Colm Malone (26) – 36pts, Denis Guinan (14) - 37-2 = 35pts and Matt Doyle (Killeigh) (19) – 34pts. Congratulations to the winners.


Weekend Hamper competitions - Saturday and Sunday 30th November and 1st December


There was another large turnout in lovely conditions for the weekend’s competition – a 14 hole Hamper competition. The result of the competition of was as follows: 1st J.J. O’Neill (18) - 34pts, 2nd Joe Reddin (16) - 33pts, 3rd Barry Keegan (16) - 31pts, 4th P.J. Wyer (20) - 31pts, 5th Frank Monaghan (15) - 31pts, 6th Ger Fitzmaurice (20) - 31pts and 7th Frank Ryan (15) - 31pts. Next weekend’s competition is a 14-hole Turkey or Hamper Competition


Mens Club AGM

A large crowd were in attendance for the Men’s Club AGM which took place at 4pm on Sunday last, 1st December 2013 in the Clubhouse. The meeting was chaired by outgoing Captain, Dermot Scanlon. In his report for the year Colm Burke, outgoing Men’s Secretary thanked all of the Committee for their efforts throughout the year, thanked the competition sponsors and spoke about the achievements of the South Leinster team who were victorious during the year and also of the achievements of Stuart Grehan during the year.

Captain Dermot Scanlon, in his address to the members, reiterated that the Club was for the members and was a place to have fun and leave troubles at the gate. He reflected on what was a very good year for golf in the Club with the fine weather being a major benefit this year. He thanked Colm Burke for his efforts and also thanked outgoing Handicap Secretary David Hughes for his efforts over the year. Finally, Captain Dermot wished incoming Captain Joe Feely, incoming Captain-Elect J.J. Flanagan and incoming President Willie O’Grady all the best for the coming year. The Election of Officers then took place. Oliver Geraghty was elected as Men’s Secretary for the year and said he looked forward to working with the new Committee. In accepting the Captaincy for 2014, incoming Captain Joe Feely thanked all those who had joined the Committee for 2014 and said he hoped to continue the good work carried out by Captain Dermot Scanlon. There were no motions put forward for discussion but a number of issues arose which will be looked at by the incoming Committee in 2014.

Names are still being taken for this year’s Winter League. See Men’s noticeboard for more details. There are 32 teams already registered to play. Anyone not on a team may enter individually and will be added to a team as further names are entered. Entry is €5 per person and 4 rounds must be played by 27th January 2014.
