Another great turnout of golfers contested July’s GOY Stableford on the last weekend in July kindly sponsored by Cuddy Kitchens. It was a day for the now famous under 10’s to shine with the Croghan dynamo Derek Hannon (3) winning the competition with a fabuluos 44pts and equaling the old course record of 67 gross that was held by Daniel O Shaughnessy until Thursday last.
Hot on Derek’s heels was the young Stephen Lynch (9) returning a very credible 42pts. Stephen’s famous hamster was turning in the same direction all day. Cat 1 was won by the above mentioned Daniel O Shaughnessy (4) with a great 41pts. Cat 2 was one by the great Scot himself Gordon Henderson (11) with 40 pts. Cat 3 was won by a man who is no stranger to the winners enclosure in Stephen Comerford (18) with 39pts. Cat 4 was won by Diarmaid Kirby (26) with 41pts. All of the above are now under the scrutiny of Jimmy (the slasher) Slattery who was seen licking his lips as the competition was been closed off. A notable absentee on the day was former cactain Liam Scally .
It became clear later in the day that Liam had won a lovely box of jewelary the previous day with Seery’s society & spent the whole morning trying on various items to suit his attire. I think MR T was mentioned by his playing companion The Rooster. Captain Anthony was also an absentee but later confirmed that he was ploughing the farways in New Forest’s captains day with a brand new 4 scrape. Ollie Scally from BD Floods is sending 2 loads of top soil to repair all damage.

TUESDAY SENIOR OPEN.
36 complan kids fought it out on Tuesday last for honours in a 2 ball scramble. Winners on the day were 2 Rhode legends in Jim Nolan & Ollie McGlynn with a great 63 nett. In a photo finish Tom Finlay & Noel Harte were pipped at the post into second place with 63.5 nett.
THURSDAY OPEN STABLEFORD.
A new course record was all the talk in the clubhouse afterThursday’s open when the magnificient Stephen Egan jnr(0) rattled home a brilliant 66 strokes & also win himself second place with 42 pts. It was only a matter of time before Stephen performed this feat as he had been playing fabolous golf of late. It is very possible that this likeable young man will better this in the not too distant future. 1st place on the day was “the baby faced assasin” David Brazil (4) with a great 42pts with another of the under 10’s Sean Lynch (3) also scoring 42pts finishing third. Sean also went on to win the club’s single matchplay final later in the evening beating the Ballinagar sharp shooter Michael O Meara.
