Hurricane Martial Arts brewing up a storm in Edenderry

The recently established Hurricane Martial Arts and fitness centre in Edenderry is already boasting some huge achievements through Ireland and abroad.

The recently established Hurricane Martial Arts and fitness centre in Edenderry is already boasting some huge achievements through Ireland and abroad.

The Team of kickboxers attained over 10 Junior National titles this year and have highly skilled individuals representing Ireland in 3 international events in the coming months. Naoise Colvin, Leah Grant, Jordan Lally, Jordan Doran, Dylan Whelan, Luke Kelly and our female senior fighter Claire Brennan will travel to Telford England in August to take part in the WOMMA (world organisation of martial arts

athletes) Games. Under the watchful eye of their coach and reigning 5 time national champion - Jay Daniels, the group will hope to secure some world games medals.

“WOMAA is an excellent stepping stone for these junior fighters as the games are highly competitive and teams from all over the world will be in attendance. It will provide valuble experience and I think we have an excellent team for this event,” Jay commented.

WAKO (World association of kickboxing organisations) holds its World Championships later in the Year and this is every fighters main goal as it is the highest standard available. Team HURRICANE have 5 Junior national champions of the highest caliber representing in the championships. Nathan Tait, Luke Hensey, Niall Carroll, Sophie Larkin and Liam Kelly. “These fighters have worked extremely hard to get where they are and this is their dream opportunity,” said Daniels.

WAKO also holds an open International tournament in Belgium this year where fighters are able to experience top level competition as well as a chance to compete against their potential rivals at world championships. For this event, Jay Daniels has selected a very strong team consisting of Luke Menton, Orla and Luke McCann, Saibh Kelly, and Brandon Tait.

“These fighters are developing extremely well and this will be one of their biggest challenges,” coach Jay Daniels said.

Jay will compete in all of the above events and expects to be victorious throughout. Fighting has been going well this year for Jay, with some recent victories including retaining his Irish National Title, Munster Open Champion, CIMAC World Cup Champion, Bushido International Challenge Champion, and Most recently White Tiger Challenge Champion.
