Offaly councillor calls for action at dangerous junction following 'a number of accidents' in recent months

CLLR EDDIE FITZPATRICK CALLING ON OFFALY COUNTY COUNCIL'S ROAD SECTION to take action

Fitzpatrick welcomes commencement of footpath works in Portarlington

Portarlington based Fianna Fail Councillor, Eddie Fitzpatrick, is calling on Offaly County Council's road section to provide extra road markings and signage at Garryhinch Cross Portarlington due to a number of traffic accidents in recent months.

Cllr Fitzpatrick says he met with one of the Road's Engineers from the Edenderry Municipal Area and outlined to him the danger and the possibility of a fatality or serious injury to motorists or indeed pedestrians at the very busy junction on the R423 between Portarlington and Mountmellick.

"If more traffic calming measures are not put in place to alert motorist to the danger I will be keeping in contact with the roads section of Offaly county council to ensure this issue will be addressed," concluded Cllr Fitzpatrick.
