Lloyds Pharmacy Offaly launch free healthy living campaign 'Get Summer Healthy'

LloydsPharmacy Offaly has launched its Get Summer Healthy campaign, a free eight-week healthy living programme to help people improve their health during the summer months.

Model Jess Redden was on hand to launch the campaign. Girlfriend of Irish rugby star Rob Kearney, Jess is due to compete in her first triathlon this year. The initiative is exclusive to LloydsPharmacy customers and available in all 94 stores nationwide.

As part of its Get Summer Healthy campaign, LloydsPharmacy customers are invited to avail of an eight-week ‘health transformation’ programme, where in-store health coaches provide free weekly advice and support for participants in the privacy of the pharmacy’s care rooms. Weight loss and smoking cessation programmes are devised specifically for the participants following an initial ‘health check’ of their blood pressure and body mass index (BMI), and a discussion about their health goals.

Participants will then have regular check-ins with their LloydsPharmacy coach to track their progress and re-tailor the programme if needed. At the end of the programme, participants receive a full report on their progress and recommended next steps to further sustain their lifestyle for the long term.

The programme, in its second year, is positively transforming the health of customers in LloydsPharmacy communities’ nationwide. Last year, LloydsPharmacy colleagues coached their customers to lose a combined total of over 3,668lbs in just eight weeks, the equivalent weight of a male hippo or a saloon car.

In 2015, Sinéad Mannion from Castletroy in Limerick was one of the most successful participants in the Change Your Health Direction initiative, achieving an amazing weight loss total of almost 6 stone. Sinead did so through maintaining a healthy diet and exercise programme devised by her local LloydsPharmacy expert, Lorraine Shinners.

Commenting on the initiative, LloydsPharmacy’s Managing Director Goretti Brady said: “Obesity continues to be a major health concern in Ireland today, particularly among our younger generation. As Ireland’s largest pharmacy group we are committed to providing free healthcare and wellbeing advice to all of our customers.

“Our Get Summer Healthy programme provides free advice and guidance to customers under three key pillars of wellness, weight and health and fitness.

“Customers who partake in our Get Summer Healthy programme benefit from the one-to-one support of their pharmacist while a weekly weigh-in appointment keeps focus and weekly reviews allow us to tweak the plan to ensure customers achieve their goal of a healthy weight and lifestyle. The Change Your Health Direction programme provides a local and easily accessible opportunity for you and your family to gain better lifestyle habits for life,” said Goretti Brady.

To coincide with its Get Summer Healthy programme, LloydsPharmacy is expanding its range of new health products over the summer months to support customers on their journey. LloydsPharmacy is introducing exciting new products from brands such as Quest, Meridian, SuperLife, Nua Naturals, Revive, Cell Nutrition, Natural Life, and many more.
