TWO Offaly boxers have learned their schedule for the forthcoming World Boxing Championships in Liverpool.
Daingean's Brian Kennedy and Tullamore's Grainne Walsh are part of the 17 strong Irish team that are travelling across the water for the Wold Championships which begin on September 4 and conclude on September 4.
Kennedy and Walsh were selected after being crowned National Elite Competition champions in their weight categories in Belfast in early June. A 17 strong team was selected after that and they will be among over 500 amateur boxers from over 60 countries competing for titles.
Walsh boxed at the Paris Olympics last year. Now a member of St Mary's Boxing Club in Tallaght, she competes in the 65kg division and her path to the final is:
Preliminaries – September 5, 8 and 10; Semi-finals – September 12; Final - September 14.

Kennedy is a member of St Brigid's Boxing Club in Edenderry and competes in the 85kg class. His route to glory is:
