Michael with family and friends after his 200th parkrun

A 71 year old pensioner from Clonbullogue recently completed his 200th parkrun at Mountlucas parkrun.

Michael Kearney began running in 2018 after he retired from Bord na Móna. He started with a "couch to 5km" programme and hasn't looked back since.

Michael, who recently completed a 115km stretch of the Camino de Santiago in Spain, is no stranger to fitness. He regularly hikes and hill walks, as well as taking part in social dancing, and running.

He was supported on the day of his 200th milestone with a large gang of family and friends. Speaking after the event Michael said "I really appreciate all the support at the finish line today. There is a great community spirit here at Mountlucas parkrun. I was lucky that the rain stayed off- it made for a very enjoyable morning!"

Michael crossed the finish line accompanied by two good friends, Mary Dunne and Mary Rowan. Michael had brought a celebratory cake with him which was generously divided among all parkrun attendees. A massive well done to Michael from all at Mountlucas parkrun.
