TULLAMORE HARRIERS: Offaly athletes take part in 123.ie National Senior Championships

Tullamore Harriers athletes Billy Corrigan, Patrick Heffernan, Emily Grennan, Imelda Lambe and Michael Murphy competed at the 123.ie National Senior Athletics Championships over the weekend.

Patrick Heffernan was competing in the 60-meter hurdles, and although it was not his quickest time, he was technically sound and qualified for the final. Here, he took sixth place in a time of 8.84 seconds. Billy competed in the 200 meters and had a great run clocking 22.78 seconds in his heat.

This was his 3rd best indoor time and was enough to squeeze him into his first ever National Senior final. Unfortunately, he was drawn in the tight lane 1 for the final, which is difficult to maneuver at high speed. Billy took 6th place in a time of 23.15 seconds.

Michael Murphy, too, made the final in the 1500 m with a 5th place finish in his heat in 3.59.28. In the final, Michael performed very well, holding a solid ninth place with 3.59.45. In the ladies 1500m, Imelda Lambe posted a time of 4:59.06 for 7th place in her heat and outside of the qualifying time for the final.

Emily Grennan raced in the very competitive 3000m on Sunday, and while she didn't have her best run of late with a time of 10.36.19, Emily and all our other athletes should be very proud to line out with the best of the best in Irish athletics. Danielle Donegan racing for UCD, was 6th lady in the 3k in 9:44.53. Well done all.

Tullamore Harriers 5k Road Race

We are back!! The annual Tullamore Harriers 5k race is on 12th of March @10am. A race not to miss – a flat fast course and on closed roads for added safety. This is Race 1 in the Offaly 5k Road Race Series 2023. Register at www.popupraces.ie
