The 400th Mountlucas Wind Farm parkrun takes place at 9.30am on Saturday, 24 October, at Mountlucas Wind Farm, R400, Ballycon

The Mountlucas Wind Farm parkrun community are inviting runners, walkers, volunteers, families and supporters from across Offaly and beyond to join them for a very special milestone – the 400th Mountlucas Wind Farm parkrun, taking place at Mountlucas Wind Farm, R400, Ballycon, Co. Offaly at 9.30am Saturday, 24 October 2026

Since the first event in July 2017, Mountlucas Wind Farm parkrun has gone from strength to strength, clocking up more than 21,000 parkruns and an incredible 106,550 kilometres along the way.

At the heart of that success is the event’s dedicated volunteer community. Since 2017, over 280 people have volunteered at Mountlucas Wind Farm parkrun, generously giving their time and helping to create the welcoming, community-focused event that participants enjoy each week.

The 400th event will be an opportunity to celebrate everyone who has contributed to Mountlucas parkrun over the past nine years. To make the morning even more memorable, participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt at the finish line, with refreshments available following the event.

Brendan Connolly, BnM, said: “Reaching the 400th Mountlucas Wind Farm parkrun is a fantastic milestone, demonstrating valuable community role played by the amenities on BnM’s wind farms.

“Since the first parkrun here in 2017, thousands of people have come to Mountlucas to run, walk, volunteer, meet friends and enjoy being active outdoors. The commitment of the volunteers in particular has been remarkable, and this milestone belongs to every person who has played a part over the past nine years.

“We would love to see regular participants, former participants and plenty of new faces join us on 24 October. You don’t have to be an experienced runner – come along to walk, jog, run, volunteer or support and help us make the 400th event a morning to remember.”

The parkrun forms part of a wider range of community and recreational amenities at Mountlucas Wind Farm. The site has a 21km road network open to the public during daylight hours for walking, running and cycling, together with 20 pieces of adult exercise equipment, a sensory garden and the Mount Lucas Wind Farm Education Hub.

The continued development of these amenities reflects BnM’s long-term commitment to ensuring Mountlucas is a place where the local community can enjoy recreation, learning, nature and outdoor activity alongside renewable energy infrastructure.
