Offaly school in rehearsal mode as they prepare to stage Oliver

Gallen's TY students put the finishing touches to the set for their upcoming production of Oliver

Ferbane school, Gallen CS, is preparing to present its 26th annual musical, a traditional favourite, Oliver!

Mr Micheal MacCartain is once again taking the reigns as producer and will also oversee set construction and design ahead of the highly anticipated musical.

Mrs Derval Scully is the choreographer, bringing her expertise to the role; Mrs Evelyn Breen is costumes director; Ms Josephine McKeogh is director of set painting and design; while Ms Heather Bracken is stepping into the role of musical director.

Rehearsals are in full swing with Ava O'Connor playing the lead role of Oliver and Cailum Woods as the master thief Fagin. Ross McLoughlin plays the Artful Dodger with Sam Flynn as Bill Sykes and Chloe Healy as Nancy.

Mr Sowerberry is played by Ffion Anderson and Mrs Sowerberry by Katie Moran. Jenny Darcy is Mrs Bedwin and Amber Poland is Widow Corney.

Paul Coughlan, Nicole Buckley and Cian Egan also play their parts as Brownlow, Bet and Dr Grimwig.

Oliver runs from Tuesday, February 12 to Friday, February 15 inclusive, beginning at 8pm nightly.

There will also be matinee shows for primary schools and tickets for all shows can be purchased through Gallen CS reception.
