Met Eireann has extended an Orange Weather Warning for Storm Gareth.

The wind warning now covers Galway, Mayo, Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo.

Met Eireann is warning that westerly winds associated with Storm Gareth will give mean speeds of 80km/h with severe and damaging gusts of 110 to over 130km/h. There is also the risk of coastal flooding due to high seas.

The warning is in effect and remains in place until 9am tomorrow.

A Status Yellow is in place for the rest of the country. 

Met Eireann warns that westerly winds associated with storm Gareth will reach mean speeds 55 to 65km/h and gusts of 90 to 110km. There is a risk of coastal flooding due to high seas along Atlantic coasts.

That warning is in place since 5pm and remains in place until 12pm on Wednesday
