The weather forecast for the coming days from Met Eireann is for very cold weather with scattered wintry showers.

Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow Snow Ice Warning which comes into place on Tuesday morning and runs until Saturday at 6pm. 

The weather forecast for tonight is for clear spells and some showers early, with frost and some icy patches. Showers will become more widespread across the country later in the night, heavy at times and turning to sleet and snow in places. This in northern and western areas initially and elsewhere closer to dawn. Lowest temperatures of -1 to plus 2 C., in mostly moderate westerly breezes.

The weather forecast for Tuesday is for a cold and breezy day. Showery rain, with a wintry mix of sleet and snow will clear quickly eastwards into the Irish Sea but further showers of hail, sleet and snow showers will soon follow. These will be frequent and heaviest in the southwest, west and north, where the odd one may be thundery. But some sunny spells also. Top temperatures of just 2 to 5 C., in fresh and gusty west to northwest winds.

The weather forecast from Met Eireann says that Tuesday night will be very cold. Wintry showers of hail, sleet and snow will continue they will be most frequent over parts of Munster, Connacht and Ulster. There will be a widespread sharp or severe frost and icy patches. Lowest temperatures of -3 to +1 degrees. 

The weather forecast from Met Eireann says that Wednesday will continue cold with some wintry showers at first, however a good deal of dry weather is expected in the afternoon with sunny spells.
