Staff at the Sacred Heart school in Tullamore were recently delighted to hear that staff member, Ms Gloria Enrique, was one of two teachers in Ireland to be invited to Microsoft’s 4th annual E2 Education Exchange in Singapore on March 13.
The invite itself is particularly prestigious in that only 300 teachers are selected worldwide to attend this event. Teachers, who have demonstrated innovation as educators, collaboration with colleagues and experience integrating Digital Technology and learning very successfully in the classroom, are selected to attend and to share experience with colleagues from around the globe.
Ms Enrique has been a member of staff in the SHS since 2016, and she teachers Business, RE and SPHE. She has been integral to the development of e-learning in the Sacred Heart School and was recently invited to present at the BETT Education Conference in London in January.
Principal,Pauline Mc Kenna, said that she was delighted for Ms Enrique and noted that when such opportunities are presented for staff, it benefits the whole school.
“Learning from peers, finding new and exciting ways to integrate DT into the classroom and sharing experiences with teachers from across the globe is beneficial to both staff and students. The classroom is really a global space now and we want our students in Tullamore to be as proficient as those students who are excelling at innovative technologies halfway across the world.”
She added “Our world is changing so rapidly that it is important to us to have our girls are skilled and prepared to meet the challenges in a positive way with a “can do” manner. Having access to global links is an important part of that process.”
