Met Éireann says there are more heavy wintry showers in the forecast for later this week.
The forecaster is predicting 'heavy wintry showers in the west, north and parts of the midlands.' on Thursday and Friday.
Monday night continue to be very cold with lowest air temperatures zero to minus 4 degrees with icy patches and lying snow in places. A mostly dry and clear night. There will be moderate to fresh northerly winds. A Status Yellow Weather Warning is in place. See the details here
Tuesday will have a dry and sunny start but cloud will thicken from the west bringing rain during the afternoon and evening with sleet over high ground. Day time temperatures on Tuesday will be 4 to 7 degrees over Ulster and Leinster and 8 to 10 degrees over Connacht and Munster.
At this stage it is expected to be cool and windy on Wednesday with heavy showers while on Thursday and Friday Met Éireann is forecasting it to be cold and windy with sunny spells but with 'heavy wintry showers in the west, north and parts of the midlands.'
