Portarlington man appears in court in connection with bank holiday business fire

An 18-year-old year man arrested in connection with an incident at the bank holiday weekend in which a number of vehicles were set alight in Portarlington has appeared in court.

Jordan Ruth (18), 4 Park House, Portarlington, faced seven charges at Portlaoise District Court yesterday (Thursday, November 10).

He was charged with criminal damage and theft, at Foxcroft Street, on October 30; three counts of criminal damage, and trespass, at Lough House, Canal Road, on October 31; and theft, from Spa View, Droughill, on October 31.

Inspector Aidan Farrelly said a file was being prepared for the DPP.

The matter was put back to January 19, 2017, for DPP directions.
