It certainly is a feel-good Friday for a two-person syndicate who picked up a mega Lotto-winning cheque worth a life-changing €4,325,656 in National Lottery headquarters today.

The syndicate, based in Limerick have been playing together for the past 20 years, and they also revealed that one of them had been carrying the golden Lotto ticket around on their person, sealed in a plastic zip-lock bag, for the past five days!

Speaking in the National Lottery Winner’s Room, one of the syndicate members said, “I was so nervous about anything happening to the ticket. I didn’t sleep a wink on Saturday night after we found out we won. I kept checking the ticket by my bedside locker. The next morning, I put the ticket in a plastic zip-lock bag and kept it in my pocket wherever I went, whether it was to work or the shops. In my mind this was a great way to be doubly sure that nothing could happen to the ticket before we got the chance to go to Dublin to claim.”

The other member of the syndicate, who found out that they were winners just an hour after the draw, said her dreams have come true. Holding the cheque for €4.3 million she simply stated: “Be careful what you dream about as you never know, it just might come true. I’ve dreamed about this a lot over the years but never in my wildest imagination did I think it would ever become a reality”.

National Lottery CEO, Dermot Griffin, congratulated the due on their terrific win. “What a week it has been for the National Lottery with back-to-back Lotto and EuroMillions Jackpot wins. It is incredible. This is what playing our games all are about. Dreams do come true and we are delighted for the two Limerick winners and indeed the 32-person syndicate who won the €17 million on EuroMillions from Stakelum’s Hardware shop in Thurles, Co. Tipperary. “

The golden winning Quick Pick Lotto jackpot ticket worth €4.3 million was sold at Whitty’s Mace supermarket in Caherdavin, Co. Limerick. The winning numbers on the night were: 1, 7, 10, 17, 35, 37 and bonus number was 43.

This is the 5th Lotto jackpot win of 2018 and the 60th to have been won by Limerick players since the National Lottery began more than thirty years ago. Between them, these lucky Limerick jackpot winners have won an incredible €78,722,887.
