Motorists have been warned to take extra caution due to traffic congestion on several routes into Dublin on Tuesday morning, including the M50.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) issued an alert on congestion for several major routes into the capital.

"Congestion Report! Routes approaching Dublin experiencing delays: M1S, M3 S, M4S, M7 E, M11 N. Delays on M50 between J05 - J06 Southbound," TII posted on social media.

"Drive with care," it urged motorists.

Met Éireann has lifted its heavy rain warning which was in place for five counties yesterday.

However, some parts of the country are still experiencing rainfall this morning, leading to more difficult driving conditions.
