Fine Gael TD for Offaly, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy has raised the issue of the state of the N62, an important commuter route in Offaly, in Dáil Éireann.

The N62 connects much of the Midlands, but the Offaly deputy bemoaned the "dreadful state" of a particular stretch of the road coming out of Ferbane.

"As you head towards the nursing home, there is a significant piece of that road which really and truly is in a dreadful state and needs to be upgraded," Marcella said.

She went on to point out that the roundabout at Cloghan on the same route is in a similarly poor state.

She is requesting that Transport Minister, Shane Ross to provide funding to upgrade the road around Offaly.
