Guards arrest man walking down Birr street with two swords

Gardaí arrested a male who was carrying two swords in public in Birr during the Christmas period.

A Garda spokesperson told the Midland Tribune that at 10 o'clock on Stephen's Night a member of the public contacted the station about the incident, which was happening on Mill Street.

“We attended,” said the spokesperson, “and saw a man carrying a three foot sword and a four foot sword. He wasn't waving the swords or threatening anybody. Both swords were in sheaths.” He said the swords were sharp and dangerous. The male was arrested and taken to the station.
