Damer House in Roscrea
Roscrea boasts an embarrassment of riches in terms of extraordinary historical sites and the jewel of the crown - Roscrea Castle and Damer House - will soon benefit from a welcome upgrade.
Tipperary County Council has granted permission, with conditions, for a new café to open at Damer House located in Roscrea Castle.
The Commissioners for Public Works in Ireland (OPW) have been given the go-ahead, with certain conditions, to transform the ground floor of the annex from a visitor centre or museum into a café.
Damer House on Castle Street in Roscrea, a large building built around 1728, opens to the public as a heritage centre.
Plans submitted for the eighteenth-century building included a change of use from a visitor centre/museum to a café in the ground floor of the annex building.

The proposal features fresh interior updates to the annex, the return of daylight through a reopened west-facing window, the revival of two original doors on the upper floors of Damer House, and other subtle enhancements.
