PICTURES: Before and after - Roscrea eyesore razed

The dilapidated buildings have been cleared to make way for a new housing development

Before and after - the dilapidated buildings at the Lourdes Road crossroads in Roscrea have been razed to make way for a new local authority housing development.

The buildings had fallen into serious disrepair and became one of the town's worst eyesores, located on the busiest traffic corridor through Roscrea on the N62 and news the site had been purchased by the local authority and designated for housing in 2021 was widely welcomed.

However, the project was stalled for almost two years after bats were found living in the buildings, requiring consultation with the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and construction work to cease.
