Roscrea officially has a new website, visitroscrea.ie, launched last week by a group founded by five local women - the Roscrea Community Action Group.
The group are made up of local women Fiona Dunford, Lorraine Cafferkey, Sharon Kruse, Clare Dooley and Alison Lee and the launch took place on Culture Night, Friday September 19th in Damer House.
The launch included an introduction to the website and a demonstration of its user-friendly design. Features shown included a comprehensive local directory of businesses, services, education facilities, sporting clubs and community groups, as well as an extensive and informative showcase of the town's proud tourism appeal which is rich in heritage and historical sites.
The new website provides a central digital hub for residents to connect and learn, while visitors can discover and explore and is a showcase of what makes our town special.
The group thanked everyone involved in making the vision for the website a reality. It gives a platform to the people and organisations that keep Roscrea thriving, while highlighting our rich historical and cultural offerings, the creators said.
“We are delighted to provide an opportunity to put Roscrea on the map in a way that reflects our unique heritage, encourages tourism and supports local enterprise. Our goal is to promote and support Roscrea in any way we can and to its full potential," Lorraine Cafferkey, Secretary of the RCAG said.
Roscrea Community Action Group asks that people explore the site, share it, contribute to it and be part of its growth as a community-driven project.
