Roscrea's Methodist Church Hall was full of chat and laughter on the morning and evening of Friday, May 9th as local friends and people from the town gathered to support the work of Christian Aid Ireland.
Over €1,000 was raised and the focus was, and remains, on the Central American country of Guatemala, where climate change has critically changed what crops may be grown and so has affected the lives and health of the indigenous Q’eqchi’ community of the Verapaz region.

People struggle to grow food for their families with an ever-diminishing water supply.
“We are reminded that ‘it’s a heart-breaking injustice that a community should be threatened by a climate crisis they didn’t cause,” organiser Gillian Kingston told the Tribune.
