Man in Midlands jailed for breaching safety order and breaking window in ex wife's home

A man broke the window of his ex wife’s house after arriving with three children and his new partner in breach of a safety order.
The 41 year-old man who cannot be named due to the nature of the court proceedings, admitted breaking the window and attending at the property in breach of a safety order.
Garda Cathal Burke told a sitting of Portlaoise District Court that the defendant had arrived at the property in Laois at 7.30pm on June 21.
He broke the front window of the house and it’s alleged his partner broke two more windows, Garda Burke said. He said the defendant has 60 previous convictions including 33 for public order offences.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said his client had behaved appallingly. He said the man’s difficulties arise from the demise of his marriage a number of years ago. He said the man “couldn’t cope” and turned to alcohol.
Judge Andrew Cody jailed the man for a year but suspended the last three months of the sentence for two years.
