KILCORMAC DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION NOTES:

Ballyboy C.C.É.

Our Traditional Session Season ‘finale session’ will take place on Friday, May 25 in Dan & Molly’s commencing at 7.30p.m. We invite all our pupils and members to join us on this occasion. It is hoped that our Grúpaí Ceoil and Céilí Bands will perform their selection of tunes giving everyone the opportunity to hear the great work that they have done in preparation for the recent Offaly Fleadh Cheoil. We look forward to a wonderful evening of traditional music, song and dance!

Killoughey Community Centre

Save the date. Complimentary tea and coffee will be served in Killoughey Community Centre after 10 a.m. Mass in Mount Bolus the first Sunday of every month beginning Sunday, June 3. Baked goods will be on sale to enjoy with your cuppa or to take home with you. In October, the Committee under the leadership of Tommy Phelan, are planning an American
Tea Party to raise additional funds for the Centre. Right now the Committee are finalising a grant application to obtain funds for painting the exterior of the Community Centre, to acquire new kitchen equipment, and to buy some maintenance equipment to use in the Hall grounds. The grant monies will be used on a 60/40 basis to extend the monies raised from the Monster Auction held last October in conjunction with Mount Bolus National School. The next Hall Committee meeting is Thursday, 24 May at 8 p.m. Following the meeting, a hall cleaning will take place in preparation for Referendum Polling to be held in the Hall on 25 May. If you are free Thursday, come to the meeting and help ready the Hall for Friday.

Killoughey Badminton

Congratulations to Judy for being conferred with honorary life membership in the Leinster Branch Badminton Union of Ireland for her work with the Killoughey Badminton Juveniles and with Offaly Juvenile and Schools badminton. Good luck to the Killoughey-Kilcormac Community Games girls Badminton team when they play in the National Finals next Saturday.

Senior Citizens Outing

The Four Seasons Gardening Club

The Buds & Blossoms Garden Festival takes place on Sunday, June 10 in Spink Community Grounds, Abbeyleix, Co Laois from 12-6pm. Guest Speakers on the day will be Dermot O’Neill, Bob Brown and Paul Smyth, nursery and gardening experts. Lots of fun for all the family. Bus will be going from the square in Kilcormac. Irish Wheelchair Association Church Gate Collection

The collection took place on the weekend of the 12 th and 13 th of May. We are delighted to to have raised a total of €601.20. Sincere thanks to all who donated so generously and to all our collectors

Ballyboy High Mileage Group

The group will take a step back in time on Thursday the 31 st of May when a visit to the ancestral home of Pat and Anne Egan Fiveally is planned. Members are requested to assemble at Dan and Mollys at 4.45pm. Transport will be provided

On Wednesday, May 23, in Ballinahown Church, Mass will be celebrated at 7.30pm, followed by 30 minutes of Eucharistic Adoration.

We will pray that compassion and care will be shown to all, especially to the most vulnerable, to unborn children and their mothers, and that the sacredness of human life will be everywhere respected.

The Irish Wheelchair Association Volunteer Afternoon

The Irish Wheelchair Association in Ballinagar are hosting Volunteer afternoon tea on Wednesday the 30th May from 2pm to 4pm.

Irish Wheelchair Association Celebrates the valuable contribution of Volunteers in County Offaly. Volunteers are hugely valued by the Irish Wheelchair Association and play a significant role in supporting IWA to provide a wide range of quality locally based services to its members in Offaly.

As part of National Volunteering Week(14 th -20 th May 2018) IWA Ballinagar, Tullamore, Co. Offaly is recognising and celebrating the many dedicated community volunteers who support its services and activities with an informal social afternoon. All IWA volunteers, past and present are invited to attend.

PATTERN OF DURROW – SATURDAY, JUNE 9

The Pattern of Durrow event returns on Saturday, June 9. Activities include:

10.00A.M First Holy Communion Mass
12.00 Noon Concelebrated Mass followed by procession to the Well and High Cross

4.30pm. Sports in Durrow GAA field:

- Races, wheelbarrow, three legged race, potato and spoon etc
- Guess the No of Sweets
- Matches
- Face Painting
- Other activities

Weather permitting for sports.

Entry: €5.00 per Adult Children: Free
There will be a shop and raffle Tickets for Durrow Pattern on sale in shop -
