Walsh Island residents seeking urgent Traffic Calming measures

Concerns have been raised in Walsh Island regarding the safety of children In the village due to excessive speed from some motorists. 

Cllr Eddie Fitzpatrick is calling on Offaly County Council to change its policy regarding the installation of raised speed tables in towns and villages around the County.

Cllr Fitzpatrick commented, “residents of Walsh Island are very concerned for the safety of children in the village due to the uncontrolled speed of some motorists. I have contacted the new Senior Roads Engineer in Offaly County Council outlining the issues raised by the residents of Walsh Island and indeed many other Towns and Villages in the Edenderry Municipal District who have contacted me regarding the control of traffic travelling through such areas.”
