Election voting at Portarlington nursing home

VOTING in the General Election took place in Oakdale Nursing Home in Portarlington on Monday, February 21. The voting took place under the supervision of Mr Michael Gillespie from the office of the Returning Officer and local Garda Hugh Coughlan also attended.

VOTING in the General Election took place in Oakdale Nursing Home in Portarlington on Monday, February 21. The voting took place under the supervision of Mr Michael Gillespie from the office of the Returning Officer and local Garda Hugh Coughlan also attended.

Speaking on Monday Valerie Moore, Director of Nursing said, “There is great interest among the Residents in the General Election and twenty six of them opted to vote here today in Oakdale. It created a great buzz and air of excitement, especially when local candidates called in to canvass over the weekend.

“Voting is very important to the elderly and some of the residents have voted in every Election since the 1930’s. I would like to thank the Returning Officer, Ms Verona Lambe and her staff in Tullamore for facilitating the residents to vote in our Nursing Home.”
