A Harvest Mass will take place in the Church of the Assumption, Tullamore on Sunday, October 14 at 1pm.

Fr Heaney with the help of a committee is busy organising this annual venture, which was a huge success last year. The idea of the mass is to give the parish of Tullamore an opportunity to give thanks to God for the produce of the land and the blessings we receive in life from the Lord.

The mass is intended as a celebration and thanksgiving for the fruits of the earth. The altar will be decorated with all the fruits of the earth that are available.

The committee would like to invite parishioners who have grown any fruits or vegetables and would like to donate them, to do so on Saturday, October 13 for display on the altar. These donations will then be given to St Vincent de Paul on Sunday, October 14 after the mass.

Produce such as potatoes, carrots, cabbages, apples, jam, honey and bags of turf and sticks would be greatly appreciated. Anybody wishing to donate such produce can bring it to the Church of the Assumption on Saturday, October 13 at 2pm.

Some farmers and businesses have already pledged donations for which a big “thanks” is extended. It is hoped that this mass will be a huge celebration of thanksgiving.
