TULLAMORE will welcome competitors to vie for the title of Queen of the land next month.
Over three event packed days, sponsored by FBD, the judging panel will have their work cut out for them choosing a suitable winner , who exudes the qualities of today’s modern, rural lady.
The festival, celebrating its 46th anniversary, takes place from November 11 to November 13, next. There will be a wide variety of queens competing this year including students, teachers, managers and even a Jewellery Maker.
Deric Hartigan, 3e weather presenter returns as the event’s MC over the weekend. The judging panel includes Amanda Brennan, FBD Tullamore, the reigning Queen of the Land, Sherine Prendergast from South Tipperary and Henry Healy.
Ms Brennan said FBD is delighted to be able to “get on board” with the festival and wished the committee the best of luck for the festival weekend.
Ronan Feighery, Festival Chairperson, is looking forward to this year’s event. He believes it will be the best year of the festival ever. “We have pulled out all the stops to make this year special. No expense has been spared to bring the best entertainment to Tullamore the second weekend in November,” he said.
On Friday night top Irish comedian Bernard O’Shea will take to the stage. Doors open at 10pm, tickets €15.
The Queens will be put through their paces by the judging panel in the Bridge House from 8.00am on Saturday, November 12. The group travels to Wolftrap Bar in the afternoon where they will be introduced to their escorts. The Queens will be put through their paces by MC Deric Hartigan for the onstage interviews. These begin at 8pm sharp in the Tullamore Court Hotel. Music will be provided afterwards by The Lols, entry €15 at the door.
The Gala Banquet takes place at 7pm on Sunday November 13 at the Bridge House Hotel. The announcement and crowning of the 2011 Queen of the Land will take place at 11pm. Music on the night will be by Fiesta.
