Mai (Daphne Cheung) in A Simple Killing
A nail-biting thriller made in Offaly is due to be shown on RTE2 on Monday night October 13th at 11.25pm.
'A Simple Killing' is a gripping story about a woman who is contemplating the end of her life. Things change drastically when she meets a distressed woman who is taking refuge from her abusive partner.
'A Simple Killing' was made by Western Front Studios and shot on location at Bellefield House and Gardens. The film was directed by Jason Branagan and written by Mark Conway. Filming was possible thanks to winning 2023's FilmOffaly Short Film Award, an initiative of Offaly County Council which goes to talented and original filmmakers using Offaly as a location for their project.
Since wrapping production, the film has been screened at multiple film festivals including the OFFline Film Festival in Birr, Derry’s Foyle Film Festival and a US premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival.
Monday night’s screening as part of RTE’s Shortscreen strand will see it reach a much wider audience and will be unmissable viewing.
