Renewed optimism in Offaly Fine Gael following significant election growth

FINE Gael’s Offaly Constituency held its Annual General Meeting at the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore recently, marking a year of substantial progress and renewed optimism for the party in the county.
Over the past 12 months, Fine Gael has achieved a 50% increase in its representation in Offaly, securing an additional seat on Offaly County Council in the 2024 local elections and winning a seat in Dáil Éireann in the 2024 general election.
The AGM was attended by a full room of members and supporters, reflecting on a positive and productive year for the party locally. Updates were provided on recent activities and upcoming priorities, and a new officer board was elected. Appreciation was expressed for the ongoing support of members and volunteers across the constituency.
Special guest MEP Nina Carberry addressed the gathering, commending the executive and attendees on the strengthening organization within the county and the success in the recent elections.

Molly Buckley was reappointed as chairperson, and recognised for her tireless work in progressing the party alongside her fellow executive members. In her address, Molly acknowledged the dedication of all public representatives serving the county with distinction and in the best interest of working with communities across all corners of Offaly.
The meeting concluded with contributions from Deputy John Clendennen and local councillors, acknowledging the support of so many over a busy twelve months with three elections, and also welcomed the strong turnout and expressed confidence in the party’s continued progress in Offaly. They reported on a meeting held that week at Government Buildings, where all the Fine Gael representatives in Offaly met with An Tánaiste Simon Harris to discuss the group’s priorities for the county, including Just Transition, a revised commitment to the Renewable Energy Community Benefit Scheme, investment in public services, and addressing the deteriorated road network through additional funding.
To conclude the meeting, Chairperson Molly Buckley encouraged new members to join the party and get involved at this time of renewed optimism for Fine Gael in Offaly.
