Laois/Offaly Fine Gael TD, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy, has warmly welcomed the fact that a wide-ranging review of the National Heritage Areas (NHA) has now been completed and is with the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Deputy Jimmy Deenihan.
It is intended that this Review will be discussed at Cabinet early in the New Year and a final decision on its contents will be made at that stage.
“I have consistently been in touch with the Department in relation to NHA’s in Offaly and have made representations in relation to de-designations,” said Deputy Corcoran Kennedy, who added that all the individual turf cutters who will be affected by the new designations will be contacted directly by the Department.
