YOUNG Tullamore singer Olivia Burke and renowned singer/songwriter Don Mescall are both releasing seperate singles entitled ‘Missing’ to raise funds for the charity MISS (Missing in Ireland Support Service).
MISS are a non-profit organisation who operate the National Missing Persons Hotline and provide essential resources, emotional support and hope to the families of those missing.
In an act of solidarity with families of those missing and as a way of raising awareness and much needed funds for this essential service, 12 year old Olivia and singer/ songwriter Don Mescall both wrote and recorded tracks with the title “Missing” unknown to each other. Now Olivia and Don are joining forces and releasing their singles together for MISS.
Olivia Burke is a 12 year old singer songwriter from the Midlands who made it to the final of Junior Midlands Got Talent this year with her mix of original songs. Olivia is a member of Tullamore Junior Voices and loves writing and performing.
Her song “Missing” was inspired by the story of missing Madeleine McCann and Olivia hopes that her song could help raise funds for MISS.
Don has been partly responsible as a songwriter for sales of more than 6 million records worldwide, penning hit songs for artists such as Rascall Flatts, The Backstreet Boys, Ronan Keating, American Idol contestant Clay Aiken, Boyzone, to name but a few.
MISS work closely with An Garda Siochana and community based organisations to provide these vital services and also to try raise awareness of missing people in Ireland. MISS rely on the generosity of the public to support their services, which are provided by a dedicated team free of charge to families of those missing.
Both Olivia and Don are donating proceeds of the release to MISS and hope that the songs will make people stop and think about those who are missing and the nightmare their families have to live through every day.
‘Missing’ is available for digital download from iTunes on Friday, February 10. To listen to both tracks go to www.soundcloud.com/missingep
