Further acclaim for SHS choirs

THE Junior and Senior Choirs from Tullamore’s Sacred Heart School added to their accolades recently when they won first prize in the Junior and Senior categories, respectively, in the Sligo International Choral Festival.

THE Junior and Senior Choirs from Tullamore’s Sacred Heart School added to their accolades recently when they won first prize in the Junior and Senior categories, respectively, in the Sligo International Choral Festival.

Following on from their recent success in the All Island Choir Competition televised by RTE the fifty strong Senior Choir gave an impeccable performance to win the ‘Sligo Tourist Development Association’ trophy.

Having performed in concert with the Band of An Garda Siochana a few weeks ago, the Junior Choir were competing for the first time.

In his adjudication, Mark Duley commended this young ensemble and applauded their secure part singing and excellent diction.

Under the direction of Regina McCarthy and accompanied by Siobhan Keogh, they were awarded the ‘Leitrim Crystal Trophy’.
