Consaws used during failed Kilcormac raid

TWO would-be robbers gave up and fled the scene after attempting to cut through the wall of a Kilcormac petrol station.

TWO would-be robbers gave up and fled the scene after attempting to cut through the wall of a Kilcormac petrol station.

The men were captured on CCTV as they tried to gain entry though the rear wall of Doolan’s Petrol Station in Kilcormac in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Between 1.30am and 4am the men cut through a security fence at the rear of the premises.

Using consaws they attempted to cut through the exterior wall of the building, to a secure area of the shop. After managing to do this, they were unable to get through the interior wall, before giving up.

They escaped empty handed after failing to gain access.

Gardai said the men would have spent at least an hour doing this. Also the consaws have petrol engines and would be very noisy cutting through a wall.

They are appealing to anyone who may have noticed any strange activity in the area during these times to contact them in confidence in Birr on 057 9120016.
