'New member of the family' - Shane Lowry shares very Irish name for new dog

Offaly golfer Shane Lowry has shared a picture of the newest member of his family with his thousands of social media followers.

The Clara native shared a snap of himself holding the family's new dog which has been given a very Irish name. Shane posted: "New family member…meet Paddy."

Shane is based in Florida with his family, wife Wendy, who is originally from Laois, and their two daughters, Iris and Ivy. 

Fans were quick to respond with one follower commenting that the dog was "Offaly gorgeous."

Another pet owner warned Shane about his new life: "Oh wow. He’s gorgeous. Prepare yourself for unconditional love and never being able to pee on your own again."

People also loved the dog's name.

"Beautiful dog, with a fab name, I just love this breed," one wrote while another added, "what a lovely Irish name."

Shane recently shared a nice family snap from the famous St Andrew's Golf Course where he was joined by his dad, uncles and other family members. 

"The Lowrys have arrived," he wrote on Instagram.
