On Sunday, May 11 at 4pm, the monument for Fiona Pender and her baby will be unveiled at the Grand Canal at Callery Street.

The monument, which was designed by Fiona’s very talented brother John in conjunction with his tutor Paul Nash at AIT, was built by Bracken Stoneworks, Tullamore.

A 4.5km walkway along the canal in the same area is to be named ‘Fiona’s Way’ and will be part of the ceremony.

There is an open invitation to the whole community to thank them for their continued support of the Pender family and other families of missing persons who will be present on the day also.

There will be music, Irish dancing while balloons will be released in remembrance of Fiona and her baby.

Fiona’s family and friends would like to thank everyone for supporting this very worthy cause and for making this celebration come to fruition.
