IN what could prove to be the final time the people of Offaly and Laois vote together in the same constituency, the Yes vote has been carried in the Stability Treaty Referendum by a margin of 59.64% to the No vote’s 40.36%.
30,655 people voted Yes, while 20,741 went No.
Responding to the result, Senator John Whelan tweeted that he was glad the Treaty was carried in the constituency, but noted that families were under a lot of pressure and the banking debt issue hadn’t gone away.
