Gardai in Tullamore are investigating a Fatal Road Traffic Collision that occurred at Killeigh in County Offaly in the early hours of Saturday, June 2.
A male pedestrian in his 20’s was found with serious injuries on the road. He was brought to Tullamorre General Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The road has been closed pending completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision or to any one who can assist them with their investigation to contact Tullamorre Garda Station on 057-9327600, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
An Garda Siochana are renewing their road safety message and calling on all road users to put safety first over this Bank Holiday period. Following four deaths in the last 24 hour period An Garda Siochana are urging people to exercise caution on our roads.
Speaking today (Saturday) Assiatant Commissioner John O Mahoney, Head of the Garda National Traffic Bureau, extended his sympathies to the families and friends of those who lost their lives and asked everybody who uses our roads to take into consideration all road conditions including the weather and the presence of large volumes of holiday weekend traffic.
Assistant Commissioner John O Mahoney added, “Road Safety is everybody’s concern and by working together we can make the roads safer for all road users.”
