TULLAMORE Town Councillors are invited to the unveiling of a plaque commemorating two Tullamore men who were killed on their way back from the 1932 Eucharistic Congress.
Edward Daly and Patrick Keananey were killed in a road traffic accident in Leixlip when the DE Williams truck in which they were travelling crashed into the Salmon Leap Bridge.
The bell that will be used to call pilgrims to the Eucharistic Congress in June will be carried from Our Lady’s Nativity Church in Leixlip to the bridge and a bronze plaque by local artist Jarlath Daly will be unveiled on the bridge this evening (Tuesday) at 6.45pm.
