A joint local Area Plan for the town of Portarlington is been carried out by Offaly and Laois local Authorities and is currently on display at the library in Portarlington.
Local Offaly Councillor Eddie Fitzpatrick says this is the most important plan ever to carried for the town of Portarlington and he urges people to have a look at the plan which is now on display and make submissions to Laois or Offaly county councils on or before June 8 next.
Cllr Fitzpatrick states that under new planning legislation some lands which were zoned under the old individual plans will now be phased or in other word de-zoned.
Officials from both local authorities were in the community centre in Portarlington last week to meet with people who wished to look at the proposed plan and discuss any issues they might of had but unfortunately their was a very poor attendance on the day.
Cllr Fitzpatrick now urges people to visit the library or call to Laois or Offaly county council to view the plan which is on public display or you can also view it on both local authority web-sites.
