tullamore schoolboy Eoin O’Connor now has hair to ‘dye’ for and he has raised over €200 for charity.
“He decided some time ago he wanted to do something for cancer,” explained his mother Jackie this week. “When he heard about the Today FM Shave or Dye campaign for the Irish Cancer Society, he decided to do that.”
Last Friday 14 year old Eoin went along to Portland Barbers on William Street in Tullamore where stylist and colour expert Anna spoke to him in great detail beforehand to explain what he could and could not do in the next few weeks.
One of the things he cannot do is go swimming, but his mother feels it is a small price to pay for such a good cause.
“He asked the school for permission before he took the plunge and principal Colin Roddy gave him the go-ahead because it was for the Irish Cancer Society,” added Jackie.
“He was very calm going in and I was glad Anna took the time to explain it all to him. I was more concerned than he was. Anna was very patient and talked him through ever stage. It took two hours to complete the job.”
