Gardai in Offaly are expected to launch a murder investigation after the discovery of a man’s body in Clara early this morning.
The body of the 47-year-old was found at 8.45am in a drain close to a burned out caravan where it is believed the victim was living.
The State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy has attended the scene and carried out a preliminary examination. The scene is currently preserved pending a Garda Forensic Examination.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact the incident room at Tullamore Garda Station on 057-9327600, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
The victim has not yet been named but it is believed he is a local man with reports suggesting that he was recently released from prison.
