Aoife Phelan laid to rest

An estimated 2,000 people have attended the funeral of Aoife Phelan in Ballyroan last Saturday afternoon.

An estimated 2,000 people have attended the funeral of Aoife Phelan in Ballyroan last Saturday afternoon.

The village came to a standstill as a huge congregation gathered at St Patrick’s Church to pay tribute to the life of the 30-year old, whose body was discovered this week.

Guards of Honour were provided by Ballyroan Ladies Football Club and Ballyroan Brass Band. The band played a selection of poignant tunes, including ‘Abide With Me.’

The Funeral Mass heard of Aoife’s love of art, Chelsea Football Club and Bon Jovi.
