Two people have been fined after a taxi driver was left without his €7.50 fare earlier this year.
Daniel Prospiech, Apt 7, Block D, Riverview, Kilbeggan admitted he was drunk and hadn’t paid the driver at 4.10am on February 19 this year.
However, Tullamore District Court heard he phoned later and apologized. He had €50 compensation for the driver.
A co-defendant in the case, Sinead Redmond, 168 Arden Vale, who is single and not working, told the court she assumed her friend had paid the taxi driver or she would have paid herself.
She admitted that she had been driving and said the situation with the taxi driver, who was not Irish, may not have been clearly understood.
Both were convicted and fined €300.
