FRIDAY May 25 was one exciting and apprehensive day for students and staff in Coláiste Íosagáin.
After weeks of training all the participants were putting their fitness to the test around the streets of Portarlington for the school’s first ever 5K Fun Run.
At the starting line the ‘elite’ runners took off like rockets. Participants were togged out in red t-shirts and with over 250 students running in the event it was a proud day for Coláiste Íosagáin.
The course was run around the town with many locals out supporting the runners. The course was flat but conditions were very warm on the day. It was a test of both physical and mental ability.
The local traffic corps led the way. Some students sprinted home and others went at their own pace but the most important thing was that everyone participated and finished the run. Well done to all involved.
1st Senior Boy was Evan Clancy while 1st Junior Boy was Seán McLoughlin. 1st Senior Girl was Libby Waldron while 1st Junior Girl was Claire Faherty
Valerie Moore on behalf of Oakdale Nursing Home presented the cup to the winner. The PE department in Coláiste Íosagáin would like to thank their many sponsors for the 5K Fun Run.
