SMALL Business in this country needs to be protected says Independent General Election candidate Cllr Eddie Fitzpatrick.
“The future growth of this country will depend on how the next government support the small business industry,” he said.
Cllr Fitzpatrick said while out on the canvas over the last number of weeks this issue keeps been raised by the local business people in Laois /Offaly. “The small business sector are suffering because they have no support from two areas and they are firstly the charges been implemented by the local authorities i.e. rates and water charges both in and out, and most of all the whole issue around access to finance and how the banks treat some of this sector,” he said.
Cllr Fitzpatrick says if elected he will work to have this sector protected by giving them support in relation to the above mentioned issues, and in turn the small business sector will grow and hopefully employ extra people. Cllr Fitzpatrick said if every small business in this country could employ just two people we would see a huge reduction in the live register and not have our young people emigrating to other countries at the rate of almost 1000 per week nationally.
Cllr Eddie Fitzpatrick wishes to thank all the people who were very receptive to him and his canvassers over the last few weeks. “Most of all I want to apologise to everyone I didn’t get to meet on the canvas during this campaign you will understand it is not possible as an independent candidate to reach every area of the constituency,” he said.
