THREE candidates, two from Offaly, have been selected to run for Fine Gael in the Laois/Offaly constituency.
The two candidates in Offaly are Cllr Liam Quinn and former councillor Marcella Corcoran-Kennedy. Sitting TD Olwyn Enright announced earlier this year that she would not be seeking re-election.
Last year Cllr Quinn was elected to Offaly County Council in the Edenderry Electoral Area at the first time of asking with over 7% if the first preference vote.
However in the Ferbane Electoral Area, Ms Corcoran-Kennedy lost her seat at the last election despite getting over 11% of the vote. She was first elected to Offaly County Counicl in 1999 and was selected for the Seanad in 2007.
Outgoing TD Charlie Flanagan is the only Laois candidate currently on the ticket although a fourth name may yet be added by party headquarters.
Meanwhile former Offaly Express Editor John Whelan has been selected to run for Labour in the constituency.
